Tacoma Narrows

We are going to paddle in the Tacoma Narrows from Owen Beach down to lunch at Steamers Seafood Café, at the south end of Titlow Park, then back to Owen Beach.  Going south we'll have a 3 knot flood current assist, and coming back north we'll have a 3 knot ebb current assist. Meet at Owen Park in the parking spaces along the beachfront.

This will be a 18 nautical-mile paddle in open cold water,  subject to wind, boat traffic, waves and current effects.  The paddle will have current assist both ways.  To sign up for this paddle, you must be an intermediate or beyond paddler with wet exit, re-entry, and rescue training and recent practice, and you must be able to paddle a sustained 2.5 knots pace. Wearing immersion gear (a dry-suit or a wetsuit) is mandatory on this paddle.
