Lopez Island Circumnavigation

There is a new trip plan.  Paddlers can participate on one or both days.

We will circumnavigate Lopez in two days so that we can linger and enjoy some of my favorite spots: Kendall Preserve, Watmough Bay (our newest National Monument), Iceberg Point and the scenic south side, Cattle Pass, etc.  We will drive onto Lopez  Friday (whenever it is convenient, afternoon or evening) and car camp at Spencer Spit State Park for two nights.  (No reservations available).

On Saturday we will drive down to MacKaye Harbor boat launch and head through Cattle Pass soon after slack (10:30 am) and get to know it as a moderate current builds.  Then we ride the flood current back to Spencer Spit.

On Sunday we will launch around 8am and visit Kendall Preserve, Watmough Bay, perhaps explore nooks and crannies of the convoluted and spectacular south side, and return to cars at McKay Harbor.  Each day will be an easy 13 nm.
