Wheel loaded boats onto the 1120am Ferry to Orcas. Launch from the dock on the left of the ferry dock (down as fairly steep ramp). Head to Jones Island (6NM), for two nights of camping. On Friday, we visit Yellow Island, a Nature Conservancy Site at the height of spring flower bloom if we hit it right. On Saturday, paddle down San Juan Channel to Turn Island and then back to Jones (12 – 14 NM). On Sunday we make our way back to Orcas to catch the ferry home.
This is Skill level III trip and may need to change plans if weather too rough in San Juan Channel. Need kayak wheels and experience with kayak camping. Immersion clothing required. Limit of 5 paddlers on Yellow Island. (Will add more paddlers if and when Nature Conservancy will allow - currently reserved for member only parties of 6 or more).
