James, Decatur and Blakely Islands

Launch from Washington Park in Anacortes on Saturday morning and cross to James for lunch and unload our gear.  Paddle counterclockwise around Decatur Saturday afternoon, explore the tombolo and short trail at Kimball Preserve, and enjoy a bit of current in Lopez Pass.  13nm.  Camp on James Saturday night.

Sunday we head up the east side of Blakely to the marina for lunch.  In the afternoon we ride the current down Rosario, enjoy the wild rocky shore of Blakely, cross to Reed Pt on Cypress, then back to Washington Park.  15nm

This paddle involves two 3 mile crossings of Rosario Strait and currents of two knots or more.  Paddlers must be experienced with crossings, paddling 15 nm,  and winds to 15 knots.
